This is a 1/18 scale handmade model car of the "Porsche 911 (993) GT2 Street 1996" produced by "EIDOLON".
It faithfully reproduces the "911 (993) GT2 Street" which appeared as a homologation model of the "911 (993) GT2 Racing ver.".
【Vehicle Explanation】
The "911 (993) Turbo", which is the base of the GT2, appeared in 1995. Equipped with a twin-turbo 3.6L engine that produces 408ps, 4WD, and wide rear fenders to accommodate wide tires, it was announced as the top model of the 911.
In 1996, the "911 (993) GT2 Street Ver." was announced as a homologation model of the "911 GT2", which was created to compete in the GT Championship. Based on the 911 Turbo, the maximum output was increased to 430ps through increased boost pressure and changes to the engine management.
Riveted overfenders were fitted to match the larger size of the dedicated magnesium wheels. The rear wing, with added air intakes at both ends, is angle-adjustable and, together with the overfenders, adds an aggressive impression to the GT2's exterior.
The interior also achieved a weight reduction of 200kg by using lightweight bucket seats, eliminating the rear seats, and using simple door panels.
[Model Explanation]
The prototype was created using 3D data based on 3D scan data of the same type of car.
Although it has already been produced in 1/43 scale, the depth of the best panel lines and the R shape of the edges have been carefully reviewed.
For the newly designed overfenders and the rear wing with ducts, the actual car was measured and photographed to create the 3D data.
The front and rear fenders, front spoiler, and rear wing have many rounded shapes, so we carefully refined the shape down to the smallest detail while considering the overall balance.
The wider front and rear tires are a different size from those of the Carrera RS, so we created new molds to produce the parts. We also reproduced the camber that gives the GT2 a more aggressive stance, just like the real car.
For the headlights and taillights, we used injection-molded plastic parts that offer smoothness, transparency, and resistance to aging. Enjoy the lens cuts and sense of depth.
The wheels are reproduced by combining aluminum rims with excellent roundness and injection-molded discs. The brake unit visible behind them is also meticulously represented, with metallic drilled rotors and brightly painted red calipers.
Furthermore, regarding the representation of windows, which is a concern given the large scale, instead of using the PVC sheet application that is common in 1/43 scale models, we have replaced the prototypes designed with 3D CAD with injection-molded parts to reproduce the beautiful three-dimensional curves. You can enjoy reflections and transparency just like the real car, and it also has the advantage of being resistant to aging.
