This is the "Toyota GR Yaris RZ High Performance 2024" produced as a 1/18 scale handmade model car by "EIDOLON".
This model faithfully reproduces the improved "Toyota GR Yaris RZ High Performance" which underwent a major facelift in 2024 and saw a significant performance increase.
【Vehicle Description】
The GR Yaris was created under the philosophy of "bringing back Toyota's sports car," a project spearheaded by President Akio Toyoda. It is said that this is neither the 86, which was born from a collaboration with Subaru, nor the Supra, which was born from a collaboration with BMW, but rather a car that embodies the desire to be 100% manufactured in-house by Toyota.
At the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, a significantly updated GR Yaris was unveiled. The three-part front bumper was made even wider, drastically changing its appearance. The honeycomb-shaped front grille is now thinner and made of metal, allowing for more efficient airflow to the intercooler. The taillights, which were previously shared parts with the standard GR Yaris, have also been significantly changed. Lamps have been added to the center garnish, giving it a more modern look.
The biggest change in this major facelift is the interior. The design is completely "directly connected to motorsport," with all instruments positioned so that they can be accessed with minimal visual movement.
Mechanically, improvements have also been made to the 8-speed automatic transmission "GR-DAT." Feedback from endurance races and rallies has been incorporated into the development, resulting in improvements ranging from increased shift speed to an expanded vehicle speed range for downshifting with the paddles. The GR Yaris, which proclaims "BORN from WRC," continues to evolve day by day.
[Model Description]
While the GR Yaris's style appears simple at first glance, the rear fender area and other parts feature a very intricate surface configuration, making a precise understanding of its shape essential. The model being released this time is designed based on 3D data of the actual vehicle provided by Toyota Motor Corporation.
The front grille uses etched parts, but even more important is the detail of the cooling system visible through the etched grille, which is also made of etched parts and rendered in high resolution to create a realistic look just like the real car. The "GR-Four" logo paint is also reproduced on the intercooler core.
The headlights are made of white metal parts that have been chrome plated and then painted, and an injection-molded plastic outer cover is placed over them to achieve a look just like the real car.
The taillights, which have been changed to a single-stroke design, have been modified not only in the center garnish but also in the taillight sections at both ends. Due to the need for fine sculpting and smooth surface treatment of the parts, clear parts were made using injection molding with newly created molds, and etched parts were combined with them to achieve a realistic look.
In addition, the rear window, which has a complex three-dimensional curve, and the front windshield, which connects smoothly to the roofline, use newly created molds and injection-molded parts.
The delicate 10-spoke wheels, featuring a unique design, were also created using a mold and fitted with injection-molded ABS parts. This achieves both realism and sufficient strength to support the weight of the 1/18 scale model.
We have released various GR Yaris models in 1/18 scale, including the 2020 initial model, the 2021 TOM'S specification, and the 2022 Circuit Package specification. Please enjoy collecting them as well.
