This is a 1/43 scale handmade model car of the "Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) Spirit R Type A with headlights open" produced by "EIDOLON".
Model Description
This model faithfully reproduces the "Spirit R," the final special limited edition of the "RX-7 (FD3S)," a sports car equipped with Mazda's proud rotary engine. This model reproduces the state in which the distinctive retractable headlights are open.
The model was created by 3D scanning the actual car, taking photographs, and taking measurements. Based on the interview data, 3D data was created and developed in-house.
The RX-7 has many three-dimensional curved surfaces, making it a very difficult vehicle to create in 3D, so we paid close attention to the surface configuration of the body.
Details such as the BBS wheels exclusive to the Spirit R can also be requested.
And the highlight of this release is the reproduction of the retractable headlights, a characteristic feature of the RX-7 series throughout history, when they are open. We aimed to create a realistic reproduction of the headlights by following the housing shape, lens surface, and other parts configuration of the actual car as closely as possible.
Vehicle Description
The RX-7 (FD3S) was released in 1991 as the successor to the Savanna RX-7, which was released in 1971. Development continued as a pure sports car with a twin-turbo rotary engine (13B engine) mounted on a lightweight body.
In the minor change carried out in 1999, the maximum output of the engine reached the voluntary limit of 280ps, and a wide range of changes were made, including strengthening the body rigidity, revising the suspension, and adopting a new front bumper design.
Many Japanese sports cars were discontinued due to the impact of the 2002 exhaust gas regulations, and the RX-7 was one of them. Mazda has decided to release 1,500 units of the "Spirit R" as its final special limited edition model. Three types will be available with differences in seat configuration and transmission, and the "Type A" will be a two-seater with a 5-speed manual transmission.
