This is the "Honda S2000 20th Anniversary (AP2) 2020" produced as a 1/43 scale handmade model car by "EIDOLON".
This model faithfully reproduces the "S2000 20th Anniversary (AP2)" equipped with accessory parts released by Honda Access to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the S2000's birth.
【Vehicle Description】
The S2000 is a sports car planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. It was released in 1999. As a Honda FR sports car, it was the first to be produced in 29 years since its predecessor, the S800, ended production in 1970, and it attracted a great deal of attention.
The body style was only available as an open two-seater, and it was equipped with a specially tuned F20C engine, a naturally aspirated 2-liter engine that produced 250 horsepower, mounted in the front-mid position. However, what attracted attention was the body, which was said to have achieved the same rigidity as a closed-body car by adopting a robust yet lightweight high X-bone frame structure. In order to insist on sure and rigid handling, the steering wheel was fixed without even a tilt mechanism, and there was no glove box in the instrument panel, demonstrating a stance of sacrificing a certain degree of comfort for the sake of driving performance.
The S2000 was produced from its release in 1999 until 2009 without changing the basic design, but it can be broadly divided into the early 2-liter model, the mid-term model which had a facelift such as a redesigned bumper, and the late-term model which had the engine displacement increased to 2.2 liters. The 2-liter model is generally called AP1, and the 2.2-liter model is called AP2.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the S2000's birth, in 2020, Honda Access, which also manufactures genuine accessory parts for Honda vehicles, began selling parts for the S2000 with the concept of a "minor model change for the 20th year." The model created this time is a vehicle fully equipped with a range of parts including an aero bumper, rear spoiler, and rear strakes.
[Model Explanation]
The subject chosen for this model is a vehicle fitted with parts manufactured by Honda Access, which manufactures genuine accessory parts for Honda vehicles. We interviewed a vehicle that was actually equipped with Honda Access's aero bumper, rear spoiler, and rear strakes in front of the rear wheels and created 3D data.
Honda Access's aero bumper is not so much about flashy looks, but rather it is made with the concept of "what if Honda were still manufacturing the S2000 and gave it a facelift with a minor change?" and it is designed to be highly functional, such as improving aerodynamic performance.
As it is a convertible, the interior, which is exposed and immediately visible, is one of the highlights of this model. Based on 3D scan data of the actual car, we have taken into consideration the materials and texture, and have applied appropriate curves to the parts that we want to look soft, and sharp edges to the parts that we want to look hard, paying close attention to creating an atmosphere and texture that is true to the real car.
We have prepared both the tonneau cover parts for when the top is open and a carbon hardtop, so you can enjoy two different looks.
In addition, please check out the sharp details that take advantage of our strength as an in-house designer, which has made numerous prototypes to aim for the optimal state, such as the white metal wheels that have the strength to achieve a sharp shape and the deeply sculpted look of the front and rear lights.
