About the actual aircraft
The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed as an advanced version of the F/A-18C/D Hornet and began deployment in 1999. Compared to the C/D model, it features a larger airframe and increased fuel tank capacity to extend its range. It is equipped with two F414-GE400 turbofan engines. In addition to a fixed armament of one 20mm M61A1 Vulcan cannon, it is said that almost all weapons used by the United States can be operated from the 11 hardpoints added to the larger airframe. It has shown a wide range of activity as a multirole aircraft that can perform various missions with a single aircraft. It is operated by many units of the United States Navy, but VFA-103 Jolly Rogers, which is said to be the most excellent and capable combat unit, is one of them. First used by VF-17 in 1943 and carried over to VF-103, the Skull and Bones miking is familiar to fans worldwide. VFA-103 has been operating the F/A-18 Super Hornet since 2004.
