【About the actual vehicle】
The Type 2 Special Landing Craft (Kami) was an amphibious tank developed and equipped by the Japanese Navy in cooperation with the Army as one of the pieces of equipment for the Ground Forces during World War II.
It was based on the Army's Type 95 Light Tank, and adopted a fully welded structure and equipped the hatches with rubber seals.
The turret used was that of the Type 2 Tank.
The main gun was a Type 1 37mm Tank Gun.
The front and rear of the hull were equipped with detachable floats to obtain buoyancy, allowing it to travel on land and water.
The floats were removed after landing, and it continued to advance as a regular tank.
It was officially adopted in 1942, and about 180 units were produced by the end of the war.
It was first deployed in combat at Saipan and played an active role in various battlefields on the southern islands such as New Guinea.
