This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the Zero Fighter, the masterpiece fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy of World War II, in 1/48 scale.
About the actual aircraft
The Mitsubishi A6M2 was a fighter aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Pacific War. Its outstanding maneuverability and range, combined with the skills of highly trained pilots, overwhelmed and surprised the American forces in the early stages of the war. It made its first flight in 1939 and began deployment in 1940. Improvements continued throughout the war, and it remained active until the end of the war. The total number of aircraft produced, including all types, exceeded 10,000. Among the many types developed, the first type was the A6M2. It was equipped with the Sakae 12 engine. The Zero Fighter compensated for its engine's lack of power with thorough weight reduction of the airframe, resulting in high performance. It was equipped with two 20mm cannons in the wings and two 7.7mm cannons in the nose. In the early stages of the war, its performance, which was in response to the skill of experienced pilots, overwhelmed the United States, but as the war progressed, it fell behind due to the sheer volume of American resources, the development of new aircraft, and the adaptation of aerial combat tactics. Due to delays in the development of successor models, it became a representative Japanese fighter aircraft that remained active throughout the entire war.
