This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the postwar masterpiece jet fighter, the MiG-21, in 1/48 scale, which is said to have had a total production of over 10,000 units.
About the actual aircraft
The MiG-21 is a Soviet masterpiece fighter that began operation in 1959, and although various types were produced, it remained in active service even into the 2000s. The design was handled by the Mikoyan Gregovich Design Bureau, and the prototype made its first flight in 1955. It was officially given the name MiG-21 in 1956. The first mass-produced model was called the MiG-21F, and improved versions followed. Among them, the MiG-21bis can be considered the perfected version of the MiG-21. The MiG-21bis made its first flight in 1971. It was equipped with one Tumansky R-25-300 turbojet engine and achieved a top speed of 2175 km/h. It was armed with one 23mm GSh-23L cannon as fixed armament. The airframe had four hardpoints and could carry a maximum of 1300 kg of weapons. It was widely deployed and operated not only in the Soviet Union but also in other communist countries.
