About the actual car
Formula 1 is one of the highest categories of motorsport. The McLaren MP4/4 was the car that dominated the 1988 season in the F1 World Championship, where selected top drivers and the highest level of technology compete. The machine was designed by Gordon Murray. The carbon monocoque chassis and the body mounted on it were designed to be as low as possible, and the rear wing's efficiency was enhanced, resulting in superior aerodynamic performance. The engine mounted on it was Honda's 1.5-liter V6 twin-turbo. It was the most powerful engine of its time, boasting a maximum output of over 1000 horsepower. And driving this ultimate machine were "Professor" Alain Prost, who had already won the world championship in 1985 and 1986, and "The Prince of Speed" Ayrton Senna, whose talent was just beginning to be recognized. In the 1988 season, when these two leading drivers of the era competed with this ultimate machine, the MP4/4 won 15 out of 16 races, etching its strength into history.
About the model
This is a plastic model assembly kit that meticulously reproduces the McLaren MP4/4, which dominated the 1988 F1 World Championship.
This 1/12 scale big-scale kit was created with the full cooperation of McLaren, based on actual car research and incorporating advice from mechanics of the time, resulting in a model that is meticulously detailed. The ultimate machine is now available in the ultimate kit. The low-profile monocoque body designed by Gordon Murray is accurately reproduced, capturing its silhouette perfectly. Of course, the cowl can be attached and detached even after completion. Beneath the cowl, the V6 twin-turbo engine, boasting over 1000 horsepower, is meticulously modeled down to its auxiliary components. The detailed expression unique to big-scale kits conveys its performance.
The model reproduces the specifications of the third race of the 1988 season, the Monaco GP. Rain tires are included in the first limited edition. It is also possible to recreate the qualifying session on a wet track where Senna achieved pole position with overwhelming performance. This is a big model that motorsport fans will not want to miss.
