About the actual aircraft
The F-14A Tomcat was operated as the main fighter of the US Navy fighter squadron from 1973. Its most distinctive feature was the adoption of variable-sweep wings. As a carrier-based fighter, the F-14 was required to be operated from aircraft carriers, and by adopting variable-sweep wings, it ensured STOL capabilities for takeoff and landing and saved space on the ship. It was equipped with two Pratt & Whitney TF30-P-412A engines. In addition, it was equipped with the AWG-9 fire control radar, which had the capability to track 24 targets simultaneously and attack 6 of them simultaneously, and AIM-54 Phoenix air-to-air missiles, demonstrating high capability in fleet defense. The F-14, which put into practical use many mechanisms ahead of its time, continued to be improved and remained active for 30 years.
