About the actual vehicle
In World War II, where mobility was highly valued, the US military developed and widely used military trucks with a load capacity of 2.5 tons. Developed and produced by the American company GMC, the US military began using them in 1941. The lineup included the CCKW type, a 6-wheel drive type with front-wheel drive, and the CCW type, which only drives the rear wheels. One of the half-tracks was the M3/M3A1 half-track. Developed for towing 105mm howitzers, it was equipped with an inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine. The cabin roof was equipped with an M36/37 ring mount, allowing for the installation of an M2 machine gun. It played an active role in transporting supplies on the European continent after the Normandy landings.
