The Toyota Corolla Levin AE92 was a key player in the Group A touring car races that generated great excitement in Japan.
Developed based on the AE92 model of the Corolla Levin that appeared in 1987, the Group A specification car featured a 1587cc inline four-cylinder engine mounted in the front. It was a front-wheel-drive (FF) machine.
Replacing the 86 Levin, which had been the main machine up until then, the AE92 was the first FF machine, and its performance attracted the attention of fans. The AE92, tuned up to Gr.A specifications, was entrusted to many teams and participated in the JTC, the All Japan Touring Car Championship.
It thrilled fans with its battles against rival teams and machines in the class of under 1600cc displacement.
