■Product Description
The British Army's standard issue sniper rifle, the "L118A1," is famously known as the L96.
It is a bolt-action rifle that uses 7.62×51mm NATO ammunition.
It is also called the AW rifle (Arctic Warfare = polar combat rifle).
The AW rifle is based on the PM rifle (British Army's standard designation: L96A1), which was developed by a British manufacturer founded by a gold medalist in shooting competitions.
The PM rifle has a stock with a thumbhole, with a metal chassis sandwiched between resin panels.
It was also an innovative military sniper rifle that applied cutting-edge shooting technology of the time, such as fixing the action and chassis with adhesive along with screws.
Later, an improved version of the PM rifle, the "AW rifle," was produced and submitted to the Swedish Army's sniper rifle trials.
With various parts strengthened, the AW rifle evolved into a firearm that could operate even at -40 degrees Celsius, and its capabilities were evaluated, leading to its adoption by the Swedish Army.
Its capabilities have been recognized elsewhere, and it has been officially adopted by the Australian Army and the British Army. The British Army's official designation is L118A1.
The capabilities of the AW rifle and its derivatives are recognized by military and law enforcement agencies around the world, and the countries that use it are too numerous to list, including Germany, Norway, Russia, South Korea, and Japan.
This kit uses an A-green stock panel.
A selectable monopod and length adjustment is possible with spacers.
The bolt is movable, and a bolt part with a cartridge case to reproduce the loading process is also included.
The bipod can be opened or closed. The magazine part is detachable.
And, the L17A1 scope and Parkerized Hale type bipod, which are genuine accessories of the L118A1, are also reproduced.
