■Product Description
The guardian deity of the north is now available as a high-resolution injection kit!
Kaiyodo has produced numerous "highest quality replicas you can hold in your hands" with their precise and exquisite balance achieved through meticulous observation, capturing the characteristics of works of art and statues.
The second installment of their plastic model kit series, which attempts to express this technology in injection kit form, is now available, bringing to life Buddhist statues. From the "Four Heavenly Kings" statues, Buddhist deities that protect the main image of a temple from all four directions,
Tamonten, who holds a three-pronged spear and gazes at the heavens while holding a treasure pagoda, has been made into a plastic model kit.
Tamonten, who is positioned to the north (left rear) from the perspective of the main image of the Four Heavenly Kings, has been sculpted in a size of approximately 160mm in height, allowing you to enjoy the perfect presence and intricate details when you hold it in your hand.
Tamonten, also known as Bishamonten in Japan, is worshipped independently as the god of victory and abundance, and is even counted as one of the Seven Lucky Gods.
When placed as part of the Four Heavenly Kings, like the other Buddhist statues, he is sculpted wearing an outfit that combines armor and celestial robes, modeled after the armor worn by military commanders of the Tang Dynasty in China.
In this item, the gesture and expression of the Tamonten statue, with the treasure pagoda held high, the mouth slightly open, and the gaze directed towards the heavens, conveys the sense that there is something even more sacred beyond his line of sight,
and the serene atmosphere of the actual Tamonten statue is wonderfully captured in three dimensions.
In addition to the three-pronged spear held in his right hand, the rough-shaped pedestal, and the treasure pagoda said to bring abundance, which are indispensable to Tamonten,
the intricate details of the armor's surface decoration, expressed with subtle bumps and dips, the different shapes of the waist armor on the left and right sides, and the different textures of cloth, leather, and skin are expressed through sculpting.
You can even appreciate the unique texture that comes from the passage of time, something that can only be felt with Buddhist statues.
To prevent the details and characteristic curves of each part from being crushed due to the injection molding process,
skillful parts division has been made to prioritize the beauty of the finished product, and in particular, fine details such as the ears and shoulder pads of the armor are sculpted with high precision,
expressing the intricacy of the original as a plastic model kit.
Furthermore, by keeping the number of parts to a minimum, it is possible to assemble the figure of Tamonten with a simple assembly process. It is an item that allows you to easily enjoy the beautiful curves, intricate craftsmanship,
and the presence befitting a war god.
Following Jikokuten, who guards the east, and Tamonten, who guards the north, the remaining two Four Heavenly Kings statues will be released one after another. Komokuten, who guards the north and west, and Zochoten, who guards the south, also have their individual characteristics, such as their facial expressions and armor, sculpted with care. The Four Heavenly Kings statues are only truly complete when all four are lined up together. We hope you can experience their dignity and presence through this model kit.
