■Product Description
Developed as a successor to the F-4 as a large air superiority fighter, the F-15 made its first flight in the United States in 1972 and became the representative fighter of the US Air Force for half a century, starting from the Cold War. In Japan, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force also deployed the F-15J, which was produced domestically through knockdown/license production, as its main fighter aircraft from December 1981. From July 1984, it mainly took on alert duties against unidentified aircraft violating airspace, and repeatedly carried out high-priority "hot scrambles" amidst the heightened tensions of the East-West Cold War.
Following the F-4EJ and F-2A/B, our company has designed and built this new kit of a Japan Air Self-Defense Force jet fighter, further pursuing the enjoyment of assembly and reproducing the shape and details based on thorough research of the actual aircraft. Holding this kit in your hands will surely lead to new discoveries about the form of this aircraft.
Furthermore, this kit reproduces the "iris cover" that was attached to protect the variable nozzle of the engine and to improve airflow, as was done to the aircraft in the early stages of deployment. The markings of the 202nd Air Squadron (Nyutabaru Air Base, Miyazaki Prefecture) and the 203rd Squadron (Chitose Air Base, Hokkaido) are reproduced with decals.
