■Product Description
The prototype Reppu, developed as a successor to the Zero fighter, failed to achieve satisfactory results due to insufficient engine power, and in the summer of 1944, its development was in danger of being canceled. At this point, Mitsubishi decided to replace the engine with their own manufactured engine, which they had advocated from the beginning of development. Two months later, flight tests were conducted and a significant improvement in performance was confirmed, keeping hopes for mass production alive. However, due to the worsening war situation, it was not possible to further develop these test aircraft, and repeated air raids kept it far from being ready for mass production, so this aircraft ended the war as a "phantom fighter."
