In the early 1940s, Martin Aircraft Corporation produced the XBTM-1 prototype in response to the US Navy's request for a multi-role bomber development plan. A development contract was signed in 1944, and the aircraft made its first flight in August of the same year. Deployed to units as the AM-1 in 1948, this single-engine aircraft was capable of carrying a payload of 4,830 kg, the largest at the time. Pilots were impressed by its payload capacity and nicknamed it "Able Mabel," a play on the "AM" in its designation. However, because its deployment coincided with that of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, all aircraft were assigned to the Navy Reserve when production ended and were retired in 1953.

■Product Specifications
Manufacturer: Halberd Models
Item No: HMU3209
Scale: 1/32
JAN: 4571628251649

■Notes
*Due to manufacturer circumstances, the expected arrival month and actual product specifications may change. The kit includes resin parts, 3D printed parts, photo-etched parts, and one type of decal. A dedicated transport trolley is also included. When completed, the wingspan will be approximately 267mm and the length approximately 188mm. Please consider this opportunity.

The XF-85 Goblin was a prototype fighter developed during the Cold War as a parasite fighter (parent-child fighter) to escort the B-36 super long-range bomber invading Soviet territory. It was to be stored in the bomb bay of the B-36 and transported to the combat zone. Development of this aircraft began in September 1945, a full-scale mockup was completed in June 1946, and two prototypes were ordered in February 1947 as the XP-85. The aircraft had a barrel-shaped fuselage measuring 4.52 meters in length, with a jet engine intake at the nose and a nozzle at the rear of the fuselage. The wings were swept back at a 34-degree angle. Based on the results of flight tests, direction stabilizers were added to the wingtips. The first prototype, completed in October 1947, was mainly used for wind tunnel testing, while the second prototype was used for flight testing from July 1948, with the EB-29B Superfortress as its mother ship. The second prototype successfully completed its first free flight in August of the same year, but failed to return to its mother ship. In October, it successfully returned to its mother ship on its second free flight. Based on the results of these flight tests, it was determined that it was not easy to recover the aircraft from its mother ship, and due to the introduction of aerial refueling and the increased range of escort fighters, development of the aircraft was discontinued in 1949.

■Product Specifications
Manufacturer: Halberd Models
Item No: HMU2401
Scale: 1/24
JAN: 4571628251632

■Notes
*Due to manufacturer circumstances, the expected arrival month and the actual product specifications may change.
